Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has filed a suit before the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights, including his name, voice, image, likeness, and other personal attributes. The matter has been listed for hearing on Wednesday before Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora.
As per media reports, the suit has been filed not only against named defendants but also against John Does- unidentified individuals allegedly misusing Roshan’s persona for monetary gain.
Justice Arora is also set to hear a similar plea by singer Kumar Sanu tomorrow. Earlier, the court had directed Meta and Google to clarify why URLs carrying morphed and defamatory videos against Sanu could not be taken down by their grievance officers.
In recent weeks, the Delhi High Court has passed several orders protecting the personality rights of public figures, including journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, “The Art of Living” founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Telugu actor Nagarjuna, Bollywood actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, and filmmaker Karan Johar.
