Apollo Tyres has been announced as the new jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team following the exit of Dream11, with the deal valued at Rs 579.06 crore. The sponsorship period has been set to run until 2027, covering 141 matches, including 121 bilateral fixtures and 20 ICC games. The company has been paying Rs 4.5 crore per bilateral game and Rs 1.72 crore for each ICC fixture, making it the highest overall bid.
As per media reports, the bidding process was held on September 16 after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited Expressions of Interest earlier this month. Competing bids came from Canva and JK Cement, while Birla Optus Paints had expressed interest but chose not to enter the bidding process. The board had excluded brands from gaming, betting, crypto, tobacco, financial services, and certain FMCG categories from participating.
The move has followed the exit of Dream11, which was forced to withdraw after the government’s new legislation banning real-money gaming platforms.
