OpenAI has launched a new ChatGPT Go subscription plan in India, priced at Rs 399 per month. The plan is the company’s lowest-cost subscription tier so far and offers enhanced features compared to the free version, including 10 times higher message limits, 10 times more image generations, expanded file uploads, and twice the memory.
Indian users can now subscribe directly in Rupees and pay using UPI.
Nick Turley, Head of ChatGPT, announced the rollout in a post on X, “We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our most popular features: 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with our free tier. All for Rs. 399.”
OpenAI, on its website, said that limits for ChatGPT Go may vary depending on system conditions to ensure a smooth experience for all users.
The company added that Indian users will also be able to pay for existing ChatGPT Plus and Pro plans in Rupees, priced at Rs 1,999 and Rs 19,900 respectively.
OpenAI stated that India is the first market where ChatGPT Go is being introduced, and learnings from this rollout will shape expansion to other countries.
The company had earlier disclosed that ChatGPT surpassed 700 million weekly users, though a majority remain on the free tier.
