After 13 Years With Zomato, Co-Founder Akriti Chopra Steps Down With Immediate Effect

After nearly 13 years with the company, Zomato Co-founder and Chief People Officer, Akriti Chopra, has stepped down, effective immediately.

In a regulatory filing, the online food delivery platform said that Chopra is moving on to pursue other interests.

“Deep, as discussed, formally sending in my resignation effective, September 27, 2024. It’s been an incredibly enriching journey over the past 13 years. Thank you for everything. I am always a call away,” Chopra wrote in her resignation e-mail which was uploaded on the stock exchange.

Chopra, the wife of Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, played a significant role as a key employee at the Gurugram-based company.

One of the oldest Zomato employees, Chopra joined Zomato in 2011 as Senior Manager, Finance and Operations. In September 2012, she was elevated to VP, Finance and Operation and later, April 2019, Chopra was promoted to the role of CFO.

Later, she served as Head of People Development from October 2020 to June 2021. In 2021, she was elevated to the role of Co-founder, ahead of the company’s initial public offering.

Before joining Zomato, Chopra was associated with PwC as Articled Assistant, from March 2008 to April 2011.
