Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief at India TV, has been elected as the President of the News Broadcasters and Digital Association (NBDA).
This association represents a comprehensive spectrum of news broadcasters across India, encompassing major networks in the country.
Sharma previously also held the position of NBDA President. In 2022, Avinash Pandey, the former CEO of ABP Network, succeeded him in this role.
During today’s board meeting of the NBDA, an unanimous election occurred. Present at the meeting were representatives from Aaj Tak, TV Today, Network TV 18, Zee News, NDTV, Sun TV, News24, ETV, and Matribhumi.
As per reports, Sharma while addressing the NBDA, said, “There is a concentrated effort to discredit the news broadcast industry. “A section of the digital media is being misused to constantly attack news broadcasters. We have to work together to fight this menace.”
“Our editors, anchors, and reporters are being targeted. They are working under tremendous pressure as an ecosystem has been created to consistently threaten their credibility. It is our responsibility to ensure that they get a fearless atmosphere to deliver fair news,” he added.
