YRF Entertainment has appointed Saugata Mukherjee as its new Head of Content, as the company continues to expand its content ambitions. With experience spanning publishing, television, and digital streaming, Mukherjee brings a cross-industry perspective to YRF Entertainment as it looks to scale its content portfolio.
Mukherjee most recently served as EVP and Head of Content at SonyLIV from September 2022 to April 2026, where he led the platform’s content strategy and originals. Prior to this, he was Head of Content, India for HBO Max at Warner Bros. Discovery from November 2021 to September 2022, overseeing content direction during the platform’s market development phase.
He previously held the role of SVP and Head of Original Content at SonyLIV from February 2020 to October 2021. Before that, he was SVP and Editor for Hotstar Specials at Disney+ Hotstar from July 2018 to February 2020, where he contributed to building the platform’s original content slate.
Mukherjee spent over five years at Star TV Network, serving as Senior Vice President and Editor – Content Studio from May 2016 to July 2018, and earlier as Vice President – Content from May 2013 to May 2016.
Before moving into broadcast and streaming, he was Publisher and Editor-in-Chief at Pan Macmillan India from April 2011 to May 2013, and earlier served as Managing Editor and Rights Director at HarperCollins Publishers India. He has also been associated with NIIT, HarperCollins Publishers, and Rupa Publications India in the initial days of his career.
