Google has announced an expansion of YouTube Shopping in India, lowering the eligibility threshold for creators to access the feature. Creators with as few as 500 subscribers can now participate, marking a significant shift aimed at enabling earlier monetisation opportunities on the platform.
The move allows smaller creators to tag products directly within their videos and earn through affiliate commissions, extending commerce-driven tools beyond large, established channels. Previously limited to creators with higher subscriber counts, the feature’s expansion reflects YouTube’s focus on democratising earnings and supporting the growth of emerging creators.
With this rollout, YouTube aims to strengthen its creator ecosystem in India by integrating content and commerce more seamlessly, offering new revenue streams while helping brands tap into a wider base of creators and audiences.
