Indian market now has some great options in the retail segment. The big players in this industry are offering quality products at several price levels. The growth of supermarket trend in India is due to multiple reasons such as the increase in awareness of branded products, raise in the living standard, having a big portion of the population who is still young in age plus the infrastructural development of cities.

Here we present you the major players in the Indian retail market. Note that this list is not based on any ranking, it will just give an idea about the 10 most popular retail companies in India.

1. Future Group

Future Retail has made a huge userbase of more than 330 million customers in India with its stores including Big Bazaar, EasyDay Club, FBB fashion garments, the neighborhood grocery chain, eZone, HyperCity malls, and Foodhall.

2. Reliance Retail

Parented by Reliance industries, Reliance Retail was established in 2006. There are more than 1500 outlets of Reliance Retail in our country having popular branded products in several categories. It is famous for food items, fashion and lifestyle products, and consumer electronics products.

3. Tata Group

Owned by Tata Group, Trent Ltd is India’s fastest growing lifestyle store right now. The company has invested money in several such brands in different categories including Croma for electronic and home appliance outlets, Titan Eye+ for eyewear products and Tanishq for selling jewellery items.

4. Raymond Group

Raymond Group is mainly popular for its quality clothing and fabric products. It has over 1000 showrooms in around 400 cities. Other popular clothing brands such as Park Avenue, JK Helen Curtis, and JK Ansell are also controlled by Raymond.

8. Godrej India

Godrej India is popular for selling fast moving consumer goods in India. Its retail brands include Godrej Nature’s Basket having food-related products and Godrej Interio for home furnishing, consumer electronics, and office use items.

9. K Raheja Corp Group

K Raheja Group owns Inorbit Malls, Crossword and Shoppers Stop Ltd, all of these are very popular amoing Indian customers. Also, the company runs a chain of luxury hotels.

10. Kurl-on

Established in 1962, Kurl-on is a Bangaluru based retail chain. It is popular across the whole country for coir and foam based products. There are more than 500 stores of this company with brands including Kurl-on Home Komforts, Kurl-on Mattress Xpress, and Kurl-on Corner.

Mother Dairy is targeting a 20% increase in revenue to over Rs 24,000 crore in FY27, backed by rising consumer demand and plans to expand into new markets, according to media reports. As per media reports, the dairy major recorded a turnover of Rs 20,300 crore in FY26, up 17% year-on-year. The company has more than doubled its revenue over the last five years, crossing the Rs 20,000-crore milestone. As part of its growth strategy, Mother Dairy is looking to strengthen its presence outside Delhi-NCR. Chairman Meenesh Shah said the company is exploring entry into new markets where it currently has limited or no presence. The company is also setting up a dairy plant in Maharashtra, has leased a facility in Hyderabad, and is establishing a second plant in Bihar. Managing Director Jayateertha Chary said sales in the first two months of the fiscal have been encouraging, with ice cream emerging as a strong-performing category. Reports also suggest that from Mother Dairy’s FY26 turnover, the dairy business contributed more than Rs 15,000 crore, while edible oils and horticulture accounted for around Rs 5,000 crore. Around 63% of revenue came from Delhi-NCR, with the remainder generated from other parts of the country. The company currently reaches more than 95 cities across India and operates nine milk processing plants, four horticulture processing plants and 16 associated edible oil facilities.
