Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) announced that Mr. Tarun Garg has officially assumed charge as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), effective January 01, 2026. This historic milestone marks the first time an Indian national heads HMIL since its inception 29 years ago reflecting Hyundai Motor Group’s confidence in India’s leadership and its strategic importance in the global automotive landscape.
Garg brings in expertise spanning sales, marketing, distribution, financial management, product strategy and brand communication backed by over 32 years of experience in the automotive sector.
His leadership will focus on future-ready mobility, customer-centric approaches, and strengthening HMIL’s position in India’s mobility market with an investment roadmap of Rs 45,000 crore by FY2030.
Under his stewardship first as Head of Sales, Service & Marketing, and then a Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer HMIL achieved record sales for three consecutive years, delivered the highest profitability and EBITDA margins, and completed India’s largest IPO in 2024 while advancing SUV segment leadership.
Beyond business results, Garg’s vision reflects a people-first leadership approach and support for community-oriented initiatives reinforcing HMIL’s direction as it enters its next growth phase.
