Tarun Garg has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hyundai Motor India with effect from January 1, 2026, subject to approval of the shareholders. He will succeed Unsoo Kim in this role.
In a regulatory filing, the company stated that Garg is presently serving as Whole-time Director and brings over three decades of automotive industry experience to the leadership role. At Hyundai, he has been instrumental in launching Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across nine models, enhancing sales quality, expanding digital and rural channels, and improving overall profitability.
Prior to joining Hyundai Motor India, Garg had a distinguished career at Maruti Suzuki India where he progressed through a series of key leadership roles. He began as Deputy Manager Logistics from May 1994 to December 1998, followed by Sales Planning Manager from January 1999 to October 2001. He then served as Regional Manager for the Central Region from November 2001 to August 2005
Subsequently as National Sales Planning Head from August 2005 to June 2007. He took on the role of Commercial Business Head West from April 2007 to June 2010, before being appointed National Sales Head from July 2010 to June 2016. He further advanced as Executive Vice President NEXA from June 2016 to July 2017, and culminated his tenure as Executive Director Marketing from July 2017 to December 2019.
