With the rise in the cases of the coronavirus, the main concern many central and state government bodies have is to spread the awareness about the precautions necessary to take to ensure they are safe from it. Many private organizations have also come forward to make sure people are aware of the importance of social distancing and wearing a mask at the same time.
However, a local newspaper in Srinagar has taken up a unique way to ensure that people have face masks to keep them safe. The local Urdu newspaper has started distributing face masks with their daily edition by pasting them on the newspaper’s front page. The mask came along with a text in Urdu saying ‘mask ka istemal zaroori hai’.
The editor of ‘Roshni’ stated to Free Press Kashmir,
We thought it was important at this time to send out this message to the public, and this was a good way of making them understand the importance of wearing a mask. We had to hire more employees to pack these masks and make sure the copies get ready. To ensure things are finished on time, we sent the publishing copy three hours prior to the press.
When the newspaper’s initiative came into light, the internet exploded with applaud and appreciation for the paper’s creative approach to educate and help people against the COVID19.

What is more impressive is that even AR Rahman couldn’t hold himself back from appreciating the newspaper and their efforts.
