After being associated with Zomato for over three years starting July 2018, running his own startup between August 2021 and July 2023, and working with Moloco as Senior Director from November 2023 to June 2024, Shalin Bhatt has now rejoined the food and grocery delivery major as Head Of Dining Out Business.
In his new role at Zomato, he will be succeeding Sankalp Kathuria who decided to part ways from Zomato as SVP and Business Head- Zomato Dining in December, last year.
Most recently, in August 2024, Zomato had acquired Paytm’s entertainment ticketing business and merged the same with its Dining Out segment to launch ‘District’ app which enables customers to discover and reserve tables at restaurants and book tickets for movies, sports, live performances, etc.
Bhatt had left Zomato in 2021, before the company went public, to launch his own startup- a bootstrapped SaaS and eCommerce business. But he had to shut down the startup’s operation in a span of just two years.
During his earlier stint with Zomato, he served the role of AVP- User Growth and Marketing from July 2018 to August 2020, during which time he worked on strategy and operations to drive user growth for online ordering at India’s top food business as well as set up and headed various functional marketing teams- Retention Marketing, Strategic Partnerships, Digital Marketing, Promotional Marketing, Referrals.
In September 2020, he assumed the role of Head of Growth at Zomato and led the overall growth marketing stack for Zomato alongside Key P&L responsibilities including owning overall marketing ROI accountability, growth strategy, new user acquisition initiatives, business forecasting, customer retention, go-to-market for new launches, among others for closer to a year’s time.
Before Zomato, he worked with venture capital firm- Matrix Partners India as Investment Professional between April 2017 and June 2018.
He began his career as an Analytics Associate at MediaCom Singapore in July 2012 and was elevated to the position of Senior Associate- Analytics in January 2014.
