Samsung Electronics has responded to the $15 million lawsuit filed by pop singer Dua Lipa over the alleged unauthorised use of her image on television packaging in the United States.
As reported by Billboard, Samsung said the image in question had been obtained through a third-party content provider associated with Samsung TV Plus and that the company had been assured all required usage rights and approvals were in place, including permissions related to product packaging.
The company also maintained that it had no intention of improperly using the singer’s likeness and indicated a willingness to engage with Dua Lipa’s representatives to resolve the dispute.
The lawsuit alleges that Samsung used a backstage photograph of the artist on retail television boxes without her authorisation, creating the impression of an endorsement relationship.
