Priyanka Chopra Jonas‘ Indian restaurant in New York, Sona, celebrated its first day of launch on 26th March. However, the actor was in London and said that she is ‘devastated’ for not being there for its opening day.
The restaurant is headed by chef Hari Nayak who has spent the first twenty years of his career working for restaurants in New York City.
Priyanka took to Instagram and shared the inside photos of the restaurant and a sneak peek of the delicious items on offer. She called her new venture ‘ labor of love and shared how Nick Jonas came up with this perfect name.
Sharing the inside pictures of the ambiance and the delicious food served at Sona, Priyanka wrote a heartfelt note. She wrote, “TODAY IS OPENING DAY @sonanewyork!
What started as a simple craving for great Indian food has become this labor of love, and I can’t wait to welcome you all in, and for you to experience timeless India in the heart of NYC!”
Priyanka credited her entire team for making her dream come true. She even thanked her husband Nick Jonas for coming with the perfect name. She wrote,
“This has been a team effort all the way… from the many many menu deliberations, food tastings, and decor decisions with @maneeshkgoyal, @davidrabin8, Chef @harinayak, and @mabowersinc, to landing on the perfect name, all thanks to @nickjonas – yes! Hubby came up with the name at an early tasting with the team, as Sona means “gold,” and he had heard that word in India, well…A LOT, throughout our wedding! 🤣”
According to its official website, the restaurant will serve dinner every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
The restaurant was inaugurated soon after Priyanka Chopra and Manish Goratyal and their team held a prayer ceremony for the new venture.
