Prasar Bharati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AEx SPORT, the sports innovation vertical of UK-headquartered AdiGroupe, to broadcast Global League Wrestling (GLW). This is the first professional wrestling league of its kind in India and the Asia-Pacific region.
The partnership combines Prasar Bharati’s nationwide reach across television, digital platforms, and radio with AEx SPORT’s expertise in global branding, content, production, and marketing. GLW is scheduled to be unveiled on September 17, 2025, with its broadcast debut on October 4, 2025. The inaugural season will run for 40 weeks and will air on DD Sports, stream on Prasar Bharati’s digital platform Waves. It will also be available on All India Radio.
The league’s format has been developed to reflect Indian cultural themes while incorporating international standards in storytelling, production, and athlete presentation. It will feature original characters, narrative-driven matches, and a family-oriented viewing experience.
The Great Khali, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, has been named GLW’s Brand Ambassador and Talent Commissioner, with responsibilities including talent identification, mentorship, and content development.
“This marks a new era for Indian pro-wrestling. Building on our existing partnerships with various sports bodies, this initiative will give India’s next generation of youth and athletes a national platform,” said Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman, Prasar Bharati.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering engaging and high-quality content to Indian audiences,” said Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO, Prasar Bharati.
“GLW is part of our mission to build immersive and inclusive sports-based cultural experiences for fans worldwide,” said Sanjay Viswanathan, Chairman, AdiGroupe and AEx SPORT.
“Wrestling transformed my life and gave me a global platform. GLW presents an opportunity for the next generation of Indian athletes to shine,” said The Great Khali.
