Flipkart, found by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal in 2007, is headquartered in Bangalore and incorporated in Singapore. Facing intense competition with e-commerce giants like Amazon and Snapdeal in India, Flipkart has managed to carve a niche for itself in the e-commerce sector.

1. Myntra

One of the most popular fashion e-commerce companies Myntra was bought by Flipkart in 2014 for $280 million.

2. Jabong.com

Popular Brands In Which Flipkart Has Invested In

2016 saw the acquisition of Jabong.com by Flipkart from Rocket Internet. The deal was made for $70 million.

3. PhonePe

UPI mobile Payment startup PhonePe was bought in 2016, and as a part of the acquisition, the FxMart license was transferred to PhonePe after which it was rebranded to PhonePe wallet.

4. TinyStep

Healthcare and parenting app TinyStep offers parenting information, advice along with a network of parents and doctors. It was found by Suhail Abidi in 2015, and was acquired by Flipkart in January 2017 for $2 million.

Flipkart invested $35 million in Arvind Fashions Limited’s newly formed subsidiary, Arvind Youth Brands, which owns Flying Machine. This had Flipkart bag a 27% stake in the company.

In October 2020, Flipkart acquired a 7.8% stake in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail for $204 million.

In August 2019, Flipkart entered into a partnership with Authentic Brands to license and distribute Nautica, an American apparel brand, that primarily sells men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel and accessories, as well as home, watches, and fragrance.

Apart from owning and partnering with the above-mentioned brands, there are many private labels by Flipkart that are spread over 300 product categories. Some of them include furniture brand- Perfect Homes, fashion brands-Cara Mia and Ann Springs, home furnishing and mobile accessories brand- SmartBuy, home appliance brand- MarQ, kids fashion brand- Miss & Chief, ethnic wear brands- Divastri and Anmi, and menswear brand- Metronaut.
