Perplexity has launched Comet for Android, bringing its AI-native browser to mobile users for the first time. The company has said that building an AI-first browser for mobile has required deliberate work tailored to each operating system and form factor, instead of adapting a desktop experience for smaller screens.
Comet for Android has offered users a portable version of its AI assistant, enabling them to ask questions, take actions and access information across tabs. The mobile version has integrated voice recognition, allowing users to interact with the Comet Assistant and retrieve information from all open tabs. It has also provided smart summarisation that works across multiple tabs rather than just a single active page.
The browser has included a built-in ad blocker similar to its desktop version, letting users whitelist trusted sites and maintain a cleaner browsing experience on mobile. Comet has remembered open tabs and ongoing tasks to deliver context-aware answers or summaries without requiring users to switch apps.
Perplexity has positioned Comet as a private personal assistant capable of research, summarisation and everyday online support. The company has stated that its broader mission has centred on encouraging curiosity by enabling users to ask more questions across devices.
