Patanjali has been involved in many controversies from last few months. Days ago Patanjali’s beauty cream ad created buzz everywhere for showing black colour as a skin ailment. Now the company is facing legal issues for its toilet cleaner ad.
Patanjali’s Green Flush toilet cleaner is showing a Television commercial ad in which its competitor Harpic has been mocked in a very funny way. The ad has not mentioned Harpic directly but anyone who has seen its TV ad can relate what Patanjali is trying to convey. You can watch Patanjali’s ad below:
The lawyer of Harpic has claimed that Patanjali’s product, Green Flush, has infringed the copyright of Reckitt Benckiser as their product has same labels as that of Harpic. He also thinks that the starting scenes of the ad has “mocked” Harpic’s ad campaign. Besides this Reckitt also believes that Patanjali’s product is not completely organic, as it also contains acids just like Harpic.
The Delhi High Court has observed that the advertisement appeared to be a “repartee” and has asked Patanjali to file its response within 10 days on the allegations that have been made by Reckitt’s lawyer.
Patanjali has very quickly become India’s favourite brand in FMCG market and is giving tough competition to multinational companies such as ITC and Hindustan Unilever. After ruling the FMCG market Patanjali is trying its luck in other industries including clothing and solar power.
