After Opposing WhatsApp Payments, Paytm’s Founder Takes A Dig At Facebook

| Published on February 18, 2018

Paytm’s Founder-Vijay Shekhar Sharma hasn’t stopped opposing the launch of Whatsapp payments even after getting trolled by his competitors. He not only criticized WhatsApp but also took a dig at its parent company Facebook by calling it the most evil company in the world right now. According to him, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is playing cheap business tactics. Along with this, Sharma believes that Whatsapp Payment option is not safe to use because it doesn’t require a login and password while opening the app.

In a recent interview Sharma said:

“It is not at all about being protectionist. Everyone should be allowed to play the field. But no one should arm twist and tweak rules to suit their designs. I have always maintained that WhatsApp is a major security risk to India”

So what made him say such a negative statement about Zuckerburg and his companies? Well, if we take the opinions of his fellow entrepreneurs Sharma is feeling unsafe because he knows Paytm’s business will experience big loss due to Whatsapp’s new feature. Just a few days ago Sharma had twitted about how WhatsApp Pay will kill the open UPI system in India to which he had received many negative replies. You can read those replies by clicking here.

Bipinpreet Singh, the founder of Mobikwik seems to be enjoying these talks as he again came up with an interesting reply to this and said:

“Picture a guy who shouts expletives at competition openly, calls to actively discourage prospective investors in competition, puts PM on the front page and does basically anything legal or illegal to get an advantage. Picture him now whining about an unfair playing field.”

Sachin Bansal who was sitting idle on this also decided to join the whole controversy as he retweeted a tweet from Flipkart fan who was supporting PhonePe in all this. Here is the tweet:

It will be very interesting to know the reactions of these entrepreneaurs in coming days because WhatsApp is surely making them think a lot about the future of their businesses.
