MIB Seeks 2-Week Extension To Submit Affidavit On SDC In Supreme Court

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has requested an extension of two weeks from the Supreme Court to submit its affidavit concerning the Self Declaration Certificate (SDC).

The Supreme Court had scheduled the hearing for July 30. As per reports, MIB has requested an extension from the court as they are still in the process of receiving suggestions from stakeholders.

On July 9, 2024, a bench of the Supreme Court, consisting of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Sandeep Mehta, directed MIB to submit an affidavit within three weeks, detailing the recommendations concerning the SDC mechanism for advertisements.

The court was reviewing intervention applications submitted by several industry associations, including the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), the Indian Society of Advertisers (ISA), the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), and the Association of Radio Operators.
