The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has invited applications for the posts of Chairperson and four Members of the Data Protection Board of India (DPBI).
The Government of India has established the DPBI under Section 18 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as an independent adjudicatory authority for enforcement of provisions related to personal data protection.
The board has been envisaged as a digital-first institution aimed at supporting technology-enabled governance. It has been empowered to inquire into personal data breaches and instances of non-compliance, issue directions for mitigation and remediation, and impose monetary penalties in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and the DPDP Rules 2025.
According to the notification, the board consists of a Chairperson and four Members. Applications for these positions have been invited through the prescribed format available on the Ministry’s website.
The ministry has stated that applications should reach the Deputy Secretary (Personnel), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Electronics Niketan, 6 CGO Complex, New Delhi, within 30 days from the publication of the advertisement in Employment News.
