A Japan-based woman is proving this wrong and making iOS applications at the age of 82. Masako Wakamiya learned to code around 2 years ago and she has made a game called “Hinadan” which has been downloaded more than 50 thousand times till date.
She was frustrated with the fact that no one was interested to teach her about technology when she was eager to learn new things. She worked in banking sector before getting retirement and was worried about her future as she never wanted to sit idle like others.
“As you age, you lose many things: your husband, your job, your hair, your eyesight. The minuses are quite numerous. But when you learn something new, whether it be programming or the piano, it is a plus, it’s motivating,” she said in an interview.
“Once you’ve achieved your professional life, you should return to school. In the era of the internet, if you stop learning, it has consequences for your daily life,” she added.
Note that she didn’t know much about coding and it took her 3 months to learn the basics and she did that after joining a site online named Mellow Club.
‘Hinadan’ is a dedicated game for the people having age more than 60 in which users arrange traditional Japanese dolls. She is now so popular that last year Apple invited her to participate at Worldwide Developers Conference, where she was recognized for her wonderful work.
