Women related issues are on an all-time rise in our country and we see brands and celebrities bringing about these topics quite often.
Just yesterday Malaika Arora posted a pic of herself along with her best friend Kareena Kapoor Khan flaunting a Dolce and Gabanna slogan tee shirt that read ‘End Violence Against Women’. Twinning in these tee shirts both the women highlighted their feminist side and also the choice of such slogans by a brand like Dolce and Gabbana came across quite strongly. Brands have also been choosing different mediums and ways to communicate to send across such social messages and show their concern over them.

In her post-Malaika also used the #WatWomenWant which is apparently Kareena Kapoor Khan’s first radio show (What Women Want) and this could also mean that Malaika could be the next guest of the show. Amrita Arora, sister of Malaika and also a very very close friend of Kareena has already appeared on the show and it seems likely that Malaika will also make her presence felt on Kareena’s show soon.
Although Malaika mentioned in her post that it’s a coincidence that she and Kareena as best friends ended up wearing the same tee, but we think it was a well-planned strategy and more as to promote and support Kareena’s show rather than anything else. Apart from supporting social messaging on social media platforms, we often see celebrities going any length for brand promotions as well. But in this case, we see less of a role being played by Dolce and Gabbana but more with the women-centric show that Kareena is hosting.
Still in case if you were looking at copying their style, the Dolce and Gabbana tee shirt alone would cost you a little over Rs 31,000. So now we know why such social messaging comes at a high price.
