The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has awarded the exclusive mandate for the Tata Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 opening and closing ceremonies, mid-innings match entertainment and fan engagement to Laqshya Media Group.
In a move to extend the WPL beyond the matches themselves, Laqshya Media Group will manage the spectator experience across all 22 matches, with the aim of reflecting the momentum of India’s recent success across stadiums nationwide.
The Context: A Homecoming for the World Champions
This season marks the first major tournament since India’s victory at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The Tata WPL 2026 will be the first opportunity for fans to welcome the World Champions back to the field. Laqshya Media Group has planned the in-stadium experience to reflect that moment throughout the tournament, with celebrations designed to run across all matches.
The Spectacle: More Than Just Cricket
The season will open with an opening ceremony featuring Jacqueline Fernandez. The closing ceremony will include a performance by Yo Yo Honey Singh.
Beyond the ceremonies, Laqshya Media Group will introduce a high-frequency engagement model across every match.
Mid-innings concerts will feature live performances during the interval of each match.
The programme will also include drone shows, laser displays and large-scale coordinated crowd activities.
Traditional elements such as live brass bands and on-ground fan activations will be used to combine local cricket culture with large-scale entertainment formats.
The Reach: Taking WPL to Every Nook and Corner
Outside the stadiums, Laqshya Media Group is implementing a nationwide visibility campaign. This includes digital and static outdoor advertising across major cities, state capitals and airports.
The objective is to broaden the visibility of the WPL beyond sports audiences and position it within everyday public spaces, with a focus on increasing awareness and participation among young women.
Mr. Alok Jalan, CMD, Laqshya Media Group, said, “India is a country where sport is not just watched; it is deeply felt. At Laqshya, our focus is on building meaningful, scalable sporting experiences that go far beyond one tournament or one season. The Women’s Premier League is a defining moment for women’s sport in India, and we are committed to creating platforms, visibility, and fan engagement models that will continue to elevate Indian sport for years to come.”
