Jindal Steel has appointed Gyan Gupta as Chief AI Officer, effective October 2025. In his new role, Gyan Gupta is responsible for leading the company’s enterprise-wide artificial intelligence transformation, spanning workforce enablement, enterprise intelligence, agentic AI systems, internal data and knowledge platforms, and intelligent automation and robotics, with a focus on governance, safety and measurable business impact.
Gupta joined Jindal Steel from his ongoing role as Chief AI Officer at AI in Action, a self-owned consulting and education platform he founded in April 2024. At AI in Action, he has been advising business leaders on applied AI strategy, enterprise adoption, and digital transformation through consulting engagements, educational masterclasses and media initiatives, helping organisations deploy practical AI solutions across operations, growth and customer experience.
Alongside this, Gupta has been the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chamko since 2019. Chamko is a micro-influencer platform focused on building data-led matching between brands and creators, particularly across tier two, tier three and emerging markets. Under his leadership, the platform has worked on influencer discovery, creator enablement and scalable advocacy-driven commerce models, targeting fashion, beauty and food categories.
Prior to this, Gupta served as Chief Product, Technology and Growth Officer at Bada Business from July 2021 to March 2024. At the edtech company focused on SMEs and entrepreneurs, he led product development, technology and growth initiatives, building AI-driven tools designed to systematise sales processes, improve predictability and support learning in Indian languages for entrepreneurs beyond metro markets.
Earlier, he was Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of FirstWall from June 2018 to March 2019. FirstWall was positioned as a social video platform focused on talent discovery, where Gupta led product conception and traction by deploying AI-based personalisation across more than 20 parameters. During this period, the platform reached over 15,000 daily active users, with high engagement levels and significant creator participation.
Gupta spent nearly a decade with DB Digital, part of the Dainik Bhaskar Group, where he held multiple leadership roles between November 2008 and June 2018. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Dainik Bhaskar Digital from June 2015 to June 2018, during which he scaled the digital business into the largest Hindi and Gujarati digital news platforms, reaching over 100 million monthly active users. His work included AI and machine learning-driven content personalisation, real-time content prediction systems and digital product strategy. Before this, he was Chief Operating Officer from March 2012 to May 2015, and Business Head from November 2008 to March 2012, overseeing internet and digital market expansion for the group.
Before entering digital media, Gupta spent over seven years at Genpact, holding multiple roles between January 2001 and October 2008. He was Leader, Custom Development from June 2007 to October 2008, where he built and scaled the custom development vertical into a USD 10 million business, managing P&L, delivery, presales and client relationships. Prior to that, he served as Product Leader for Content Management from December 2004 to June 2007, leading web, portal and content management practices, defining product roadmaps and launching new service lines. He began his tenure at Genpact as a Program Manager from January 2001 to November 2004, managing large-scale IT programmes and enterprise helpdesk operations across multiple locations.
Across his career, Gupta has worked extensively at the intersection of product, artificial intelligence, enterprise systems, media, platforms and growth, with leadership experience spanning consulting, startups, large enterprises and founder-led ventures.
