Indian Traders To Create New E-Commerce To Compete With Amazon, Flipkart

| Published on April 25, 2020

E-commerce has become immensely popular in the last few years and due to the emergence of this COVID-19 pandemic, more and more people are looking to plan their future in selling online. If we talk about the current market leaders in India, two big players come in the mind of most people- Amazon and Flipkart. Although these two are providing quality services and very fast delivery, still we can see a large gap that needs to be filled for the Indian small retailers for a platform where they can sell with better guidance and high profits.

Considering such factors, the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT) in association with small retailers group Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is planning to launch a new e-commerce platform. Below are the main features of this platform that we go to know from online sources:

  • Along with DPIIT and CAIT, the major participants for this platform are Invest India, Startup India, All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation and Avana Capital.
  • This marketplace will focus on local ‘Kirana’ stores by taking orders from customers online and will ensure contactless delivery.
  • The marketplace is not limited to the current pandemic situation as it will act as a permanent solution to digitalise the existing retailers present all across the country.
  • From Manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, to retailers of all verticals, everyone will be an integral part of this marketplace.
