In this digital age, companies are very concerned with the security of their platforms. Especially the popular social media works that have personal data of millions of online users. An Indian guy named Anand Prakash is known for hacking the social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
Now, Anand is making headlines for hacking Tinder and got the access to all Tinder accounts including the ability to swap, see personal messages. The flaw in Tinder app was due to the use of Account kit, which is a product of Facebook and enables users to register for apps without needing a password.
If a common youngster would have done this, he would’ve tried checking messages of strangers and disclosing the personal information of users for fun. But, Prakash took the right decision by sharing the vulnerability with Tinder and Facebook. Both the companies acknowledged his work and fixed the bug quickly. For this, Facebook awarded him $5000 (Rs. 3,25,000) while Tinder gave $1250 (Rs. 81,000)
Anand is also the founder and CEO of AppSecure India which offers cybersecurity services to companies and this is not the first time when he has discovered some serious security issues in the famous applications. He was also awarded an amount of Rs 3 lakh by Uber for finding a way to book unlimited Uber rides for free. Facebook also gave him Rs 10 lakh in the year 2015 for disclosing a bug in their app.
Anand is still a youngster enjoying his life and looking for further opportunities to serve the nation with his skills in cybersecurity. He has also worked with Flipkart for two years as a Security Researcher. He shares his knowledge on web security on his blog also.
