How Google, Facebook, Microsft , Amazon Are Handling Working From Home During Coronavirus Pandemic?

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the economy of the majority of nations. So how are big companies coping up with the work from home (WFH) environment?

Google

Alphabet’s CEO Sundar Pichai declared that Google will be carrying out a WFH model till the end of the year for all its employees. Once everything settles down, the return to office will be made in a gradual and steady manner.

Facebook

Facebook is the largest social media giant existent today. Even the company announced that the WFH model will be followed until the end of the year. More importantly, most of its offices are expected to remain closed till the first week of July. In addition to this, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg has announced that the company will hold no gatherings of more than 50 people till July 2021 to be on the safe side!

Microsoft

Microsoft has more than 1,44,000 employees around the world. Known as the biggest tech employer, the company declared that most of its employees would be allowed to work from home at least till October 2020.

Once the lockdown is lifted, work from home will be a choice for most, except for the ones who are essentially required to come down to the office.

HCL

The Indian giant HCL just revealed that half of their entire workforce will be working from home during and after the lockdown. CEO C. Vijaykumar announced that it was hard to predict how soon the lockdown would be lifted, however, this model could sustain the company for the next 12 to 18 months.

Infosys

Infosys is taking its time with flexible plans for all its employees to work from home. CEO Pravin Rao said that nearly 5% of their employees would return to the office once the lockdown was exempted, and a gradual shift to 15% would be made depending upon the situation.

Amazon

Amazon is still working amidst the lockdown but has all its staff working from home. The company plans to follow this model until October this year. For the employees who have to work at the office, the company is taking very strict safety and sanitisation measures to ensure nothing goes wrong right from step 1.
