Brand Promotion has become the most important part of marketing a product. Companies hire celebrities to promote their brand in the market and earn revenue, in exchange for a certain amount of endorsement to celebrities. But with much interest, over time, celebrities have started to have a deeper commitment towards the brand or the product by owning stakes in the company or by signing up for revenue sharing with the brand.

Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Hritikh Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and many more have either invested, created or signed up for revenue sharing with the brand.

Celebrities owning Stakes in the brand:

Amitabh Bachchan & Just Dial

In 2010, Amitabh Bachchan was signed as the brand ambassador of Just Dial, a telephone and internet search-based company. His current investment is not known, but it is for sure that his initial investment of Rs. 6.27 lakh in 2011, has grown in value since the company got public in 2013.

Salman Khan & Yatra

In 2012, Yatra, an online travel agency, hired Bollywood actor Salman Khan as the brand ambassador. Although his association as the brand ambassador ended lately, he continues to own a reportedly 5% stake in the company.

Karishma Kapoor & BabyOye

In 2011, a baby care products e-retailer brand, BabyOye, received undisclosed funding from Karishma Kapoor and also signed her as the face of the brand. But she exited the company when Mahindra group acquired it in 2014.

Celebrities who have revenue sharing deals:

Deepika Padukone & All About You

In 2015, All About You, a fashion brand which retails exclusively on Myntra made Deepika Padukone it’s fashion label. She has a revenue sharing deal with the company and has been actively promoting the label across mediums.

Celebrities who created the brand:

Hrithik Roshan & HRX

HRX, a casual wear brand, was conceptualised and heavily promoted by Hrithik Roshan. The brand made its online debute through Myntra, in 2013. It has also signed up Tiger Shroff, as the face of the brand.

Virat Kohli & Wrogn

Wrogn, a high-street fashion menswear brand, is co-owned and promoted by Virat Kohli with USPL (Universal Sportsbiz Ltd.) as the holding company. The label is sold across Shoppers Stop and Myntra.

Shradha Kapoor & Imara

Co-created by Shraddha Kapoor, Imara was launched as a clothing line in 2015. This brand is also a part of USPL. The brand is promoted across platforms by her and is currently retailed across Shoppers Stop and Myntra.
