With the transformation of Internet and social media platforms, the number of threats and scams that people get to experience has increased immensely. WhatsApp is the most popular medium for such activities as it is used by people of all age groups across the country.
Along with so many benefits, WhatsApp users especially females have been the victims of a lot of offensive texts and ab*ses. Even though there are features to block unwanted conversations, but sometimes things get way too much.
Cyber laws are getting updated seeing the needs according to the way hackers are getting smart and now Government has taken a good step for people who never knew how to counter offensive messages on WhatsApp.
Department of Telecom (DoT) has come up with a new method to tackle the issue. According to this, now any WhatsApp user will be able to file a complaint against the users sending offensive texts to them.
How to file a complaint on WhatsApp
To file a complaint, all you need to do is e-mail a screenshot of the offensive message along with the WhatsApp contact number of the user to DoT’s e-mail id i.e. [email protected].
Ashish Joshi, a DoT official shared this valuable information on Twitter.
If anyone is receiving abusive/offensive/death threats/ vulgar WhatsApp messages, please send screenshots of the message along with the mobile numbers at [email protected]
We will take it up with the telecom operators and police heads for necessary action.
