From Being A Clueless Student To Becoming A YouTube Sensation, Know What Aashqeen Feels About His Journey

| Published on September 26, 2018

Aashqeen is an Indian video content creator who gained huge fame by posting funny and comedic videos on his social media handles like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channel. He posts funny videos related to our daily life on his channel which he created in 2015. His channel has achieved more than 150 million views to date with over 1.8 million subscribers. Let’s read what he has to say about his journey so far.

1. Looking back, where did it all begin? Please take us through your journey.

I started this journey when I was almost clueless about my life. Starting this journey was never my aim, I was doing my regular engineering and of course, I was not at all good at it. But during my engineering days, when my scores were really bad and as I was going through the dark phase of my life, I discovered this funny side of mine and explored it. Started with my old friends just for fun and to kill time, I uploaded my first video. I used to make videos just to balance my life between my bads and goods. Making videos became my good, the actual real good which gave me love and appreciation for my work and success in what I love doing and spending time on.

Now I actually understand what people actually mean when they say, “It’s such a wonderful thing when a career and a passion come together.” Although I took a long time to discover my real passion, which I am loving now.

2. How do you create content or make decisions on what will be the topic of the next video?

Observation, I love observing people, their behavior, and their stories. 60 percent of my concepts are revolving around people who are with me. And sometimes I cook stories inside my head and then I brainstorm and come up with new ideas.

3. From then to now, how has the landscape for YouTube creators changed?

Youtube was a platform for entertainment. People used to switch to it for movies, videos, fun and learnings. People still switch it on for the same purpose but the meaning of Youtube changed for corporates and brands. From quite sometime it has become the new market for the brands to take their products to the audience. It is the new TV with fun, entertainment and digital advertisements.

4. How do you deal with the hate comments

I don’t mind receiving hate comments. Emotionally it does affect me but practically and professionally it does not. Digital media is for everyone. If they have the right to love a person and his content then they do hold the same level of right to hate somebody and his work. Anyways, I cannot satisfy everyone every time. The majority is loving me and my work, that’s something which always motivates me and keeps me moving forward.

5. Which is the one video you enjoyed making the most? And, why?

The best video which even I enjoyed is the most loved and popular video is Inteqam- the perfect revenge. It got popular because somebody who was rejected by a girl in love takes his revenge after some time by rejecting her to ride on his rickshaw. This silly love story went viral because later that Rikshawala (which I played) celebrates his victory by dancing and doing a wheelie with his rickshaw. The rikshaw wheelie was unplanned and we did it just like that and trust me it got viral beyond my imaginations. Today Inteqam is our recurring video with its famous character Bhaiya Ji with which a lot of people recognize me.

6. According to you, what are the essentials of building a strong subscriber base on YouTube?

Being true to yourself and your content is what will never stop you from getting love from the audience. A strong subscriber base shall always be there to support you and your content if that content is pure and as per your genre. I try to get new and unique content every time so that my audience should not get bored of what I serve to them and should have that essence of newness from my work and channel.

7. Please share some tips for aspiring YouTubers and Content Creators

“Never give up. Your day will come.” Just be focused on whatever you are doing, because your focus determines your reality.

8. Where do you see yourself after 5 years?

This industry and market is not constant. The trends here change every day. Thus, I can’t plan what’s going to happen in next 5 years. I keep myself prepared on the changing trends and demands. But yes, I can at least say if things go well and remain in my favor, I’ll be definitely serving better content and entertain much more than today.
