The Indian film industry’s cumulative box office revenue for January and February has reached Rs 2,264 crore- a 39% increase compared to the same period in 2024, According to Ormax Media’s latest Indian Box Office report.
The report also highlights that the films released in February 2025 have grossed Rs 1,245 crore, marking the highest-grossing month since the pandemic. This performance has been largely driven by the success of ‘Chhaava’.
Chhaava has emerged as the top-grossing film of February 2025, earning over Rs 650 crore. The company’s statement mentions its success has played a key role in boosting Hindi cinema’s share of the box office to 45% for January and February, up from 40% for the entire year of 2024.
In addition to Chhaava, the Tamil film Dragon has also made waves, grossing over Rs 100 crore and surpassing the high-budget Vidaamuyarchi to become one of the month’s biggest hits.
The report stated that re-releases continue to perform strongly, with films like Sanam Teri Kasam and Interstellar making their way into the top 10 highest-grossing films of the month, highlighting the growing trend of successful returns for popular titles.
As per the report, only Hindi language box office for Chhaava have been considered in this report, since the film’s Telugu version was released in March 2025.
