The Election Commission has taken action against 11,000 unlawful social media posts and other content linked to assembly elections across five states. The move has come as polling has already been conducted in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry, while Tamil Nadu and West Bengal are set to go to polls later this month.
As per media reports, the poll authority has reiterated its directive that any misleading or unlawful AI-generated or manipulated content must be acted upon within three hours of being flagged to social media platforms.
The Commission has stated that the directive is aimed at ensuring the integrity of the electoral process and limiting the spread of misinformation during the election period.
