Thierry Delaporte Steps Down As CEO & MD Of Wipro; Srinivas Pallia Takes Over

After being associated with Wipro for over 32 years, Srinivas Pallia, previously the Chief Executive Officer of Americas 1 (Wipro), has taken over as the CEO and Managing Director of the company.

Pallia has replaced Thierry Delaporte, who resigned from the position after serving for four years. In his earlier position, Delaporte served with Capgemini in different roles for 25 years. Before that, he was associated with Arthur Andersen and Company as an External Auditor for over three years.

In a regulatory filing, the company announced that Delaporte, who put down his papers on April 6, will be relieved from the employment of the company with effect from the close of business hours on May 31, 2024.

Pallia joined the company in 1992 and has moved through various positions in the company since then, starting as a Product Manager, then progressing to Marketing and Brand Manager, General Manager for the US Central region, Vice President of Enterprise Business in the USA, Senior Vice President, and Global Head of Business Application Services. Later, he served as Chief Executive of the RCTG Business Unit, followed by President of the Consumer Business Unit.

Expressing his views on new appointment Pallia, mentioned “I am honoured and humbled to assume the role of CEO and MD at Wipro, a company where I built my entire career. Wipro has been home to me for over 30 years and provided me with a journey of continuous discovery, growth, and learning that shaped me into the leader I am today.”

“Over the past four years, I have been working closely with Thierry and our entire leadership team on an ambitious transformation journey, which has allowed us to optimize our structure, enhance our leadership, and improve our overall efficiency,” he added.

On his departure from the company, Delaporte said, “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved over the last four years, growing revenues by 35%. We’ve generated 25% more profit in the last four years than in the previous 4-year period, and the value of our stock and market-capitalisation has grown by 2.5X since 2020.”

“But Wipro’s incredible journey is about so much more than numbers. I came in to fundamentally transform and modernize Wipro for the future. It has been a priority to perform while transforming; to introduce client-centric guiding principles of agility, excellence, and investments in new technologies and systems.”
