Dainik Bhaskar Group’s digital business arm, DB Digital, has appointed Piyush Thakur as Chief Revenue Officer. He has taken charge of leading the advertising revenue function across the company’s web and app platforms and has reported to Pathik Shah.
Thakur has brought over two decades of experience in digital sales and monetisation. He has joined from Inshorts, where he has spent nearly ten years as part of the founding leadership team and has most recently served as Chief Revenue Officer. During his tenure, he has contributed to building the platform’s advertising business and has worked with brands including Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, Coca-Cola, Amazon Prime, Samsung, and Apple. He has also held leadership roles at ESPN, Times Internet, and Info Edge.
DB Digital has operated a news platform with over 20 million monthly active users and more than 100 million downloads across Android and iOS. Available in Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi, the platform has recorded strong engagement and retention. The company has so far focused on building its product and user base without introducing advertising-led monetisation.
“Over the past few years, we have focused on building a high-quality news product with strong user engagement. With the platform now well established, we are ready to scale our advertising business. Piyush’s experience and track record make him the right leader to drive this next phase of growth.” – Pathik Shah, CEO, DB Digital
“DB Digital presents a unique opportunity to build a large-scale advertising business on top of a highly engaged user base. The platform has already achieved strong growth and user trust, which provides a solid foundation for monetization. I look forward to contributing to this journey and building a strong revenue engine for the business.” – Piyush Thakur, Chief Revenue Officer, DB Digital
“DB Digital has created a strong position in the digital news space through its focus on quality and user experience. With Piyush joining the team, we aim to strengthen our advertising capabilities and build a robust and sustainable digital business. This is an important step towards our larger vision of growing a leading news platform across print and digital.”- Girish Agarwal, Promoter Director, Dainik Bhaskar Group
