Cannes Lions 2024: The One Where India Secured 59 Shortlists & Won 18 Lions; Leo Burnett Shines With 5 Lions

In the 71st edition of Cannes Lions 2024, the Indian Creative Contingent brought home a total of 18 Lions as Leo Burnett Mumbai and tgthr won a Silver Lion each in Glass: The Lion for Change, and McCann Gurugram and Leo Burnett Mumbai bagged a Bronze Lion each in the Sustainable Development Goals category on the final day of the Festival. Leading the charts from India was Leo Burnett Mumbai with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Lions.

Cannes Lions 2024: Indian Creative Contingent Shines With 12 Lions As India Wins 3 Lions On Day 3

With Cannes Lions coming to an end, the Indian Creative Contingent added 4 more Lions on Day 5 of the 71st edition of International Festival of Creativity, bringing home a total of 18 Lions.

Of the four metals that came India’s way on the last day of Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, it was Leo Burnett Mumbai and tgthr who won 1 Silver each in Glass: The Lion for Change.

On the fifth day of Cannes Lions, the metal winners were announced for The Dan Wieden Titanium Lions, Film, Glass: The Lion for Change, Grand Prix for Good and Sustainable Development Goals Lions and McCann Gurugram and Leo Burnett Mumbai bagged a Bronze Lion each in the Sustainable Development Goals category.

Here is a sneak peek into the campaigns that won from India on Day 5 of Cannes Lions 2024:

1. Glass: The Lion for Change

In its debut year at Cannes Lions 2024, tgthr Mumbai won a Silver Lion in the category- The Lion for Change for its work on Reckitt’s ‘HARPIC LOOCATOR #BEFREETOPEE’ campaign.

In the same category, Leo Burnett Mumbai also won another Silver Lion for its work on PepsiCo’s Lay’s titled ‘PROJECT FARM EQUAL’.

2. Sustainable Development Goals Lions

a. In the Sustainable Development Goals category, Leo Burnett Mumbai won a Bronze Lion for its work on PepsiCo’s Lay’s titled ‘DROPS OF JOY’.

b. In the same category, McCann Gurugram bagged a Bronze Lion for ESAF Small Finance Bank’s ‘DABBA SAVINGS ACCOUNT’.

However, there were no wins from India in The Dan Wieden Titanium Lions and Film Lion.

With India adding 2 Silver Lions and 2 Bronze Lions to its winning tally at Cannes Lions 2024 on Day 5, the total wins from India summed up to 18 Lions, of which 3 are Gold, 5 are Silver and 10 are Bronze Lions.

That being said, on the penultimate day of the Festival, Leo Burnett Mumbai and Ogilvy Mumbai, respectively won 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Lion, respectively, in the categories- Creative Effectiveness and Creative Strategy.

On Day 3 Of Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Leo Burnett Mumbai won 1 Gold Lion in the category Creative Data Lions alongside FCB Kinnect and VML Mumbai who won 1 Silver Lion each in the category of PR Lions.

On the second of the Festival, Early Man Film Mumbai and Kondurkar Studio Delhi, together, won a Silver Lion and a Bronze Lion in the Film Craft Category; Ogilvy Mumbai bagged a Bronze Lion in Entertainment Lions, VML Mumbai won a Bronze Lion in Entertainment Lions for Music, and Leo Burnett Mumbai bagged a Bronze Lion in Entertainment Lions for Sport.

India opened its winning account on Day 1 of Cannes Lions 2024 by bringing home a total of 4 Lions, comprising 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze metals across six categories including Audio & Radio, Health & Wellness, Lions Health Grand Prix for Good, Outdoor, Pharma and Print & Publishing Lions.

Of the four Lions which came India’s way on the very first day on the Festival, it was McCann Gurugram which won 1 Gold and 1 Bronze Lion and Ogilvy Mumbai which won 1 Bronze Lion in the Health & Wellness Lions Category and Ogilvy Mumbai and Rapport Outdoor Advertising, together, who brought home 1 Silver Lion in the Outdoor Lions category.
