BYJU’S India CEO Arjun Mohan Steps Into Advisory Role; Byju Raveendran Takes Charge

To streamline its operations and position the company for long-term success, BYJU’S has decided to set itself on a transformation journey for BYJU’S 3.0 and as a result, BYJU’S India CEO, Arjun Mohan, has transitioned to the role of an External Advisor after leading an extensive seven-month operational review and cost optimization exercise at the company.

In his new role as an External Advisor, Mohan will continue lending his deep EdTech expertise to the company and its founders during this transformation phase and Byju Raveendran, Founder and Group CEO, BYJU’S, will take a more hands-on approach in spearheading the daily operations of the company.

Over the past four years, Raveendran had focused primarily on strategic aspects such as raising capital and driving global expansion but recognizing the need for strong leadership during this challenging hour, he will now be deeply involved in the company’s day-to-day functioning, leveraging his expertise to steer BYJU’S towards its next phase of growth and innovation.

“With this new organizational structure and with the return of Byju Raveendran as the operational leader, BYJU’S is now well-positioned to begin its next chapter of innovation-led growth by launching at scale its new suite of AI-first products that have already received an overwhelmingly positive feedback in the pilot phase,” the company mentioned in a statement.

As part of setting out on this transformation journey, the ed-tech major has also decided to strategically consolidate its businesses into three focused divisions- ‘The Learning App’, ‘Online Classes & Tuition Centres’, and ‘Test-Prep’. Each of these units will have separate leaders who will independently run the businesses sustainably to ensure profitability.

According to the company’s statement, this new structure will enable each vertical to be nimbler, cost-efficient, and better equipped to capitalize on market opportunities while leveraging the power of the BYJU’S brand and ecosystem.

Prior to joining BYJU’S India as CEO, Mohan served as upGrad’s Chief Executive Officer from April 2020 to February 2023.

In his earlier stint with BYJU’S, Mohan served across various roles ranging from Consultant to VP- Marketing and Chief Business Officer for more than 11 years.

Before that, he was Associated with Titan Company as National Sales and Operations Manager for more than two-and-a-half years, starting June 2013 and as TAS Manager at Tata Services from June 2012 to June 2013.

Commenting on the organizational restructuring, Raveendran, Founder and Group CEO, BYJU’S, said, “This reorganization marks the start of BYJU’S 3.0 – a leaner and more agile organization ready to quickly adapt to evolving market dynamics, especially in the realm of hyper-personalized education. By focusing on our core strengths with three specialized business units, we will unlock new growth opportunities while continuing to focus on profitability.”

“Arjun has done an outstanding job steering BYJU’S through a challenging period. We are grateful for his leadership and look forward to his continued contributions as a strategic advisor,” he added.

Adobe Partners Runway To Integrate Gen-4.5 AI Video Model Into Firefly Multi-year partnership has brought Runway’s generative video models into Adobe Firefly, with Adobe becoming Runway’s preferred API creativity partner Adobe has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with Runway to integrate generative AI video capabilities into its creative ecosystem. The collaboration has brought Runway’s video models into Adobe’s tools to support AI-driven video workflows for creators, studios, media companies, brands and enterprises. As part of the partnership, Adobe has become Runway’s preferred API creativity partner and has offered its users early access to Runway’s latest video models. Runway’s Gen-4.5 model has become available in the Adobe Firefly app for a limited period, ahead of a broader public release. The two companies have collaborated to develop AI capabilities tailored for professional video workflows, which have been made available exclusively within Adobe applications, beginning with Adobe Firefly. Adobe Firefly users have gained the ability to generate video using text prompts, experiment with pacing, motion and visual styles, and then refine outputs using Adobe’s video editing tools. Adobe has integrated Runway’s Gen-4.5 into Firefly’s workflow, enabling creators to move generated clips into applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects for further editing and control. The companies have stated that Firefly customers will continue to receive early access to future Runway model releases through Adobe’s platform. Adobe and Runway have also worked with filmmakers, studios, agencies, streaming platforms and brands to co-develop new video capabilities within Adobe’s creative tools. The collaboration has focused on making generative video a consistent part of professional creative workflows. Runway’s Gen-4.5 has been made available in the Adobe Firefly app and on Runway’s own platform. Adobe Firefly Pro subscribers have been given unlimited generations until December 22. “As AI transforms video production, pros are turning to Adobe’s creative ecosystem – from Firefly to Premiere to After Effects – to imagine, craft and scale their stories across every screen,” said Ely Greenfield, chief technology officer and senior vice president, digital media, Adobe. “Runway’s generative video innovation combined with Adobe’s trusted pro workflows will help creators and brands expand their creative potential and meet the growing demands of modern content and media production.” “We’re building AI tools that are redefining creativity, storytelling and entertainment, with Gen-4.5 as the latest example,” said Cristóbal Valenzuela, co-founder and CEO, Runway. “This partnership puts our latest generative video technology in front of more storytellers, inside Adobe’s creative tools that are already the industry standard for many creators around the world.”
