The Iconic tagline “Because You’re worth it” by L’Oreal Paris has completed 5o years of its existence last year. We did some research and found the first time it was tossed to the audience and yes, as much as it is difficult to believe this ahead of its time, the progressive phrase “Because I’m worth it” was launched 50 years ago.
Take a look at how this slogan which speaks volumes about feminism and women empowerment came into existence.
Inspiring.. isn’t it?
This was the first global as by L’Oréal Paris which came out in 1973 in which a confident Joane Dusseau is seen walking with the camera and talking about her preference as well as her review of hair colour by L’Oréal Paris. In the end of the commercial she says “Because I’m worth it” and boom, it becomes the iconic tagline of the brand.
In the 1980s, L’Oréal changed the tagline from ‘Because I am worth it’ to ‘You are worth it’; with this, the brand gave out a clearer message of women empowerment and solidarity.
Well, L’Oréal Paris is one brand that has always gone that extra mile as far as ad commercials and campaigns are concerned. The campaigns by L’Oréal are contemporary as well as heartwarming. The brand has always promoted positivity for women regarding their bodies, skin tones and shapes.
Let’s see some of the campaigns by L’Oréal Paris which touched our hearts and left an unerasable mark.
In 2019, L’Oréal Paris teamed up with Courtney Cox giving out a strong message “Women who want more from life, Women who want more life in their colour”
Another powerful campaign by the brand included pregnant women, older women, women with hijab, men and women with every size and skin tones truly advocating inclusivity and diversity in it’s true sense.
“Everyone is worth it”, yes the brand not just says it but also makes sure in each of its campaigns that it advocates it clearly through its campaigns.
The brand also took up a unique initiative where it teamed up with NGO Breakthrough and launched a training program ‘Stand up against Street Harassment’ program. This was launched in India in 2020.
The advertisement launched to support this initiative was a beautiful one and had that unique element that all L’Oréal ads have.
According to the brand, the purpose behind this initiative is to empower women, which the brand has always advocated. The program received an overwhelming response globally and especially in India.
L’Oréal Paris is one brand that has always stood out through its campaigns and we are all praises for the out-of-the-box thinking and including a sense of purpose in every campaign that it comes forward with.
