Aparna Purohit Moves On From Amazon Prime Video After 8 Years

Aparna Purohit, Head of Originals, India and Southeast Asia, Prime Video, has moved on from the company after an association of over eight years. Throughout her time at the company, Purohit moved through different positions including Head of Creative Development and Head of India Originals.

Aparna Purohit Moves On From Amazon Prime Video After 8 Years

After being associated with the company for more than eight years, Aparna Purohit, Head of Originals, India and Southeast Asia, Prime Video, has moved on.

Throughout her time at the company, Purohit moved through different positions. She joined Amazon Prime Video, India, in January 2016 as Head of Creative Development and was elevated to Head of India Originals in April 2019.

Prior to this, she was working with Cinestaan Film Company as Creative Head – production from August 2014 to January 2016. She was also associated with Mumbai Mantra Media, Mahindra & Mahindra as Head – Creative Initiatives from August 2012 to January 2016.

In the past, she was also associated with National Film Development Corporation, BIG Pictures, Reliance Big Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures.

In an internal mail to the company, Purohit said, “As I bid adieu, I realise that I am not leaving behind anything. Every memory, every lesson learned, every bond forged will be etched in my heart as I embark on this new adventure. I am confident that our paths will cross again, and I eagerly look forward to staying connected and collaborating soon in the future.”

A Prime Video spokesperson said, “Over the past eight years Aparna has played a key role in developing some of the most-loved and popular Amazon Originals for India. She’s championed authentic, rooted and diverse narratives that made Prime Video’s local Original content resonate with audiences. She was also the driving force behind the diversity initiatives at Prime Video, significantly increasing female participation in storytelling in front of and behind the camera.”

“Aparna will now be returning to her entrepreneurial roots and continue to work on bar-raising stories. We deeply value her contributions to Prime Video that has made us the home for stories, storytellers and talent, and wish her the best in her new role,” the spokesperson added.
