10 Most Innovative Advertising Campaigns in History

A significant transition has taken place in the advertising sector.

Many of the advertising we’ve witnessed over the years have done far more than just encourage us to purchase an item or service. The most successful advertising have altered how we communicate and interact. The minds behind the marketing divisions of businesses like Buffer & Zapier.

The expansion of the brand and the success of the social media campaign following the advertising campaign decide some of the all-time greatest campaigns. The most effective advertisements were global in reach, which helped us remember them decades after they were initially launched.

These 10 advertisements created marketing history, whether it was due to a sincere message, a humorous screenplay, or just plain savvy branding.

“Taste the Rainbow” | Skittles

Skittles are crunchy sugar shells with the symbol “S” printed on them. Fruit juice, citric acid, both natural and artificial flavors, corn syrup, sugar, and hydrogenated palm kernel oil make up the majority of the inside. Several flavor collections, including Tropical, Dessert, Wild Berry, Sour, Hot, and Sweet, have been offered for sale with the candy.

“The Future’s Orange” | The Future’s Bright

The prominent tagline of a UK telecoms business called, naturally, Orange was “The future’s bright, the future’s orange.” Long since forgotten and absorbed into larger telcos, Orange. The financial markets, however, also seem to be wishing for an orange future.

“Real Beauty” | Dove

Real Beauty Sketches, one of the most well-known Dove movies, examines the discrepancy between how we see ourselves and how others see us. Gil Zamora, a forensic artist trained by the FBI, created two pictures of each lady, one based her own description and the other on a stranger’s observations.

“Colour Like No Other” | Sony Bravia

A marketing campaign supporting the BRAVIA brand featured a commercial with 250,000 actual, non-computer-generated, vividly coloured rubber balls bouncing across a San Francisco road. Director Nicolai Fuglsig and special effects wizard Barry Conner, both of Los Angeles, worked together to bring the concept to reality.

“Wassup” | Budweiser

In an effort to urge people to check in on their pals during the coronavirus lockdown, Budweiser is bringing back its famous “Whassup” commercial.
The advertisement uses the same footage but updated audio that is more appropriate for the present. For instance, instead of stating they are “watching the game, enjoying a Bud,” one of the characters in the initial shot will state they are “in quarantine, having a Bud.”

“Year in Search (2017)” | Google

Although this advertising is not really the oldest or the most well-known on our list, throughout the course of its nine-year existence (and continued existence), it has grown to be the most effective. You might not even realise it’s an advertising since it’s so moving and accurate.

“Dumb Ways to Die” | Metro Trains

Metro Railways in Melbourne, Australia, wants to send a clear message: no horsing around train tracks. Injury or even death might result from disorderly behaviour. Nevertheless, rather of the usual announcements or warning signs found in railway stations, Metro Trains created the song Stupid Ways to Die, which has had 157 million views on YouTube since its release in 2012.

“Fearless Girl” | State Street Global Advisors

Designers positioned Fearless Girl in New York’s financial district overnight on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2017 to start a discussion on the value of gender diversity in business leadership. She continued to inspire people all around the world after relocating to a new residence right next to the New York Stock Exchange in 2018.

“The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” | Old Spice

The following advertisement served as the first component of Wieden + Kennedy’s “The Man Your Man Might Smell Like” campaign for Old Spice, which was introduced in February 2010. It nearly overnight became a viral hit:

As of this writing, that video has had over 51 million views. A second advertisement for Old Spice starring the same man, Isaiah Mustafa, was released in June 2010 after several months.

“Thank You, Mom” | Procter & Gamble

Some of the most effective advertisements from the consumer products sector have been released by Procter & Gamble (P&G).

That’s because P&G discovered the narrative that lies beneath the tale of Olympic athletes—the narratives of the encouraging mothers who encouraged these elite athletes throughout their whole lives in the run-up to that momentous achievement. And certainly, they undoubtedly had to do a lot of cleaning and washing while travelling.

Wrap Up

Advertising represents one of the most crucial components of any organisation, and it may be a make-or-break component in terms of profitability.

What distinguishes a successful advertising campaign? Above everything else, it must market and sell your goods or service. It must be distinctive and snappy.

Your next marketing effort might grow your company to new heights with proper preparation and execution.
