NFTs or Non-fungible tokens are slowly becoming the new hot property in the country. Everyone from actors to cricketers is hopping on the NFT bandwagon. From the likes of Amitabh Bachchan to Sunny Leone to Salman Khan, many celebrities are seen endorsing NFTs. And now we have someone from the cricketing world too investing in this medium. Known for his class, both on and off the field, he’s none other than cricket’s little master.

Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has made a formal entry in the world of NFTs, by launching his exclusive NFTs which will be live from 21st November 2021. The collection is aptly named “Always First”, as Sunil Gavaskar was one of the first sportsmen to endorse brands and expand his commercial potential beyond the cricket field. The first one to get 30 Test centuries and 10,000 test runs, are some of the significant firsts achieved by him and all of these have been digitized and curated in the form of NFTs for fans.
His foray in the world of NFTs was announced by his son Rohan Gavaskar.

Really excited to announce the launch of the Sunil Gavaskar nft collection . Please go to https://t.co/T4nmoGLcfd to know more about it , if you like . @nftiesports @nikhilchinapa #nft #collectibles #cricket pic.twitter.com/O4jfhS072S

Those interested in his NFTs need to first sign up on alwaysfirst.io. One needs to purchase an NFT access ticket to the Gavaskar Virtual Hall Of Fame. There are over 51,000 Hall Of Fame Access NFTs in the first ever cricket collection. The collection has 5 levels, the fifth one being a bonus for those who own the first four emblems.

Every NFT is unique and every Sunil Gavaskar NFT will be seen as a piece of collectible art and will also serve as a token of access to his Hall of Fame. These additional benefits of access and connect may expire in two years, but the collectible art piece will last forever.

Through NFTs, Sunil Gavaskar intends to share key highlights of his career and also connect with sports fans digitally. “I am looking to launching this first NFT series where I share my key highlights and tell the story of those moments. I am excited by connecting with a new generation of digital-native sports fans and invite you to join me on this journey,” Gavaskar said.

For the uninitiated, an NFT is a data unit stored in the form of a code on a digital ledger called blockchain which certifies the digital asset to be unique. It helps in tracking the ownership and validity of each asset. They are used to represent all types of digital content like audios, videos, photos, music albums, painting, games and even memes
