As we all are aware, electric vehicles are the thing of the future. Keeping this in mind, the year 2021 is going to be full of electric car launches by various leading brands.

Tesla Model 3

Tesla Model 3 is designed for electric-powered performance, with dual motor AWD, quick acceleration, long-range and fast charging.

Tesla offers the US-spec Model 3 with a massive 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12-way power-adjustable front seats with heated function, two wireless charging pads, and a 14-speaker sound system along with autonomous driving features. The US-spec Model 3 is offered in three electric powertrain options: Standard Plus, Long Range, and Performance.

Tesla is expected to launch the Model 3 in the first half of 2021 and could be priced from Rs 60 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).

The KUV100 mini SUV-based EV gets a 15.9kWh liquid-cooled battery which is good for a claimed range of 147km. New features include connected car tech which allows you to set the temperature of the air conditioning before you get into the car.

The Mahindra eKUV100 electric vehicle is expected to be launched in India soon at a price of Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Mahindra eXUV300 will be powered by a battery developed by Mahindra Electric in association with LG Chem. This Lithium-Ion battery pack is claimed to return a range of 300kms on a single charge. The EV will be available in two variants including Standard and Extended Range.

Porsche Taycan

The Porche Taycan is the first-ever electric vehicle from Porsche which is based on the Mission E concept. This is one of the many electric cars which will mark its debut in India under the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. The vehicle will be produced at the new factory in Zuffenhausen and it will be introduced in Indi via the CBU route when it arrives later this year.

The car is expected to be launched in January 2021 at a price of Rs 2.00 – Rs 4.00 Crores.

Audi e-Tron

Powering the e-Tron are two electric motors, one sitting on each axle which has a combined output of 360PS and 561Nm, that can push the e-Tron from 0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds.

Jaguar’s I-Pace will be the second luxury electric SUV to be sold in India, after the Mercedes-Benz EQC.

The electric I-Pace utilizes two electric motors, one on each axle, with a combined power output of 400PS and 696Nm. They can individually control the wheels, which also means that the I-Pace has an AWD system, courtesy of which it can go from 0-100kmph in just 4.8 seconds. The electric motors draw their power from a 90kWh battery pack, which gives it a 470km range according to the WLTP cycle (world harmonized light-duty vehicles test procedure).
