The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has urged consumers to report food safety violations through its Food Safety Connect platform, enabling complaints to be submitted along with photographs of unhygienic kitchens, stale food and unsafe food handling practices.
The regulator has stepped up its consumer awareness campaign, “Be the Eyes of Food Safety,” encouraging citizens to report unsafe food, unhygienic kitchens and poor food handling practices, as per media reports. The initiative has aimed to make consumers the “eyes” on the ground to help identify food safety violations across restaurants and food outlets.
According to FSSAI, a single photograph submitted with a complaint has helped authorities identify food safety violations and facilitate timely regulatory action. The platform has allowed consumers to lodge complaints digitally, supporting the regulator’s efforts to strengthen food safety enforcement.
