Koo co-founder Mayank Bidawatka has shut down his AI-powered photo-sharing startup PicSee, marking the end of another entrepreneurial venture after the closure of the Indian microblogging platform Koo.
Bidawatka announced that PicSee ceased operations in July 2026, citing the startup’s inability to achieve product-market fit despite efforts to refine its offering, as suggested by media reports. The platform had been positioned as an AI-first photo-sharing app.

The shutdown comes nearly two years after Koo, the Indian social media platform co-founded by Bidawatka, discontinued operations in July 2024. Koo had emerged as a homegrown alternative to X (formerly Twitter), supporting multiple Indian languages and attracting millions of users during its peak.
However, reports also suggest that the company was unable to secure a strategic acquisition after discussions with larger media companies, including Dailyhunt, failed to materialise. Facing funding constraints and an increasingly competitive social media landscape, Koo eventually wound up operations.
With PicSee’s closure, Bidawatka joins a growing list of founders who have openly acknowledged the challenges of building consumer AI products, where rapid technological shifts and evolving user expectations have made achieving sustainable product-market fit increasingly difficult.
