The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has partnered with Google India Private Limited by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen India’s tourism ecosystem through technology, digital platforms, and data-driven insights.
The collaboration has marked the Ministry’s first comprehensive partnership with a global technology company and has focused on improving digital tourism experiences, expanding the global reach of the Incredible India initiative, and supporting informed decision-making through technology.
The partnership has been built around three key areas. Under the first pillar, Google has agreed to provide travel trend dashboards that will help the Ministry assess global travel demand and monitor changes in traveller behaviour for tourism planning.
The second pillar has focused on improving digital discovery of destinations. The Incredible India app has continued to explore deeper integration with Google Maps to enhance navigation and travel discovery. Google has also supported the Ministry through YouTube by helping optimise the Incredible India channel and scale authentic tourism content for global audiences.
The third pillar has focused on capacity building. Google has committed to conducting training sessions for Ministry officials and tourism practitioners to strengthen their digital campaign management, optimisation, and monitoring capabilities.
The partnership has also established a joint review structure to monitor progress and ensure the timely implementation of key milestones.
Preeti Lobana, Country Manager, Google India, said, “India is one of the most searched travel destinations globally, yet much of its diversity remains to be fully discovered digitally. This collaboration is our commitment to closing that gap. From sharing insights on the dynamic landscape of global travel to empowering the Ministry’s teams with strategic digital skills, every element is designed to support the Ministry’s vision. We are proud to partner with the Ministry to build a blueprint for sustained digital excellence.”
