Avenue Supermarts, the parent company of DMart, has appointed Anshul Asawa as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director, marking the completion of a planned leadership transition following the exit of Ignatius Navil Noronha. Asawa was named CEO-designate in March 2025, enabling a phased transition at the company.

Prior to this, he spent over three decades at Unilever, holding multiple leadership roles across markets and functions. Most recently, he served as General Manager, Greater Asia, Home Care and Head of Country, Unilever Thailand from April 2024 – Feb 2025. Before that, he was Chief Customer Officer, Home Care, Vice President – Digital Commerce, and General Manager, Unilever Professional from April 2022 to April 2024.
He also served as Global VP for Digital, E-commerce and Customer Development, and General Manager, HC Professional (B2B) from July 2018 to March 2022, and as VP Marketing, Home Care, Unilever Europe between June 2015 and June 2018. His earlier roles include Regional Category VP for South Asia and Global VP for Radiant brand from July 2012 – May 2015, Vice President Marketing Operations, Unilever South Asia October 2010 to June 2012, and General Manager, East Branch and Rural Channels between September 2007 to September 2010.
Additionally, he held the role of Implementation Director, Western Europe from April 2006 – August 2007), and earlier led sales and marketing functions across Foods and Refreshment (May 1995 – Mar 2006).
