Meta Platforms has appointed Vishal Shah to lead its global AI product organisation, a move that places him at the centre of the company’s efforts to integrate intelligence across apps, hardware and metaverse experiences.
Shah will oversee Meta’s product leadership for artificial-intelligence features under the supervision of the head of AI product, Nat Friedman. According to media reports, the appointment comes amid an internal reorganisation that followed the company’s recent job cuts in its Superintelligence Labs division.
Before this role, Shah served as Vice President of the Metaverse division at Meta from August 2021, where he led product strategy and growth initiatives for its immersive-technology arm. From December 2018 to August 2021 he was Vice President of Product at Instagram, and from June 2015 to November 2018 he served as Director of Product Management at Instagram.
His earlier career includes nine years and eight months at Turn, where he rose to Senior Director of Product Management, after holding the role of Director of Engineering for seven years and seven months. He also started his career as an Analyst at Accenture from August 2004 to November 2005 and as an Engineer at Redi2 in 2004.
