BytePe, India’s first tech subscription platform, has been launched, marking a new chapter in how Indian consumers access and experience premium smartphones. Founded by serial entrepreneur and former Flipkart leader Jayant Jha, who also co-founded the re-commerce brand Yaantra (later acquired by Flipkart), BytePe has introduced a flexible, subscription-led model aimed at breaking the cycle of long EMIs and outdated devices.
As per the company, BytePe has offered users access to the newly launched iPhone 17 series, including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and Pro Max, through fixed monthly plans that are lower than traditional EMIs. The service has included 100% damage protection and the flexibility to upgrade devices annually or continue for ownership after the tenure.
BytePe’s model has been designed to simplify smartphone ownership, customers can choose their preferred phone, subscribe via credit card or BytePe EMI (for non-credit card users), and upgrade or return their device after 12 months. The platform has also introduced an upfront purchase option with one-year insurance and an assured buyback value of up to 50% at the end of 12 or 24 months.
By focusing on transparent pricing, flexible payment structures, and inclusive access, BytePe has positioned itself as a cost-effective alternative to traditional ownership. The service has aimed to give users greater control over how they access technology, without hidden costs or long-term commitments.
“After years in India’s consumer electronics industry, I’ve seen how long EMIs, outdated devices, and limited choices frustrate consumers. With BytePe, we are changing that. We’re starting with smartphones but will soon expand into more categories such as electronics, accessories, and beyond,” said Jayant Jha, Founder and CEO, BytePe.
“Our vision is to democratise luxury by enabling millions of Indians to access the latest technology through a smarter, more flexible ownership model. This launch is not just about affordability, it’s about giving consumers a choice that’s lighter on their wallets, better for the environment, and truly on their terms. BytePe isn’t just a service; it’s a new way of thinking about ownership.”
