Doordarshan, the public service broadcaster of India, celebrated its 65th anniversary this year. It was established on September 15, 1959.
From its beginning with an experimental broadcast in Delhi, Doordarshan has grown to become one of the largest broadcasting organisations in the world. From the days of black-and-white television to the present era of digital and satellite broadcasting, Doordarshan has evolved to cater to the changing tastes and preferences of its diverse audience, as per the network.
The network further said that from the era of black-and-white transmission to 35 channels across its network, it gives every region the flair of its language through its six national channels, 28 regional channels, and one international channel.
Over the past 65 years, Doordarshan has broadcasted television shows of various types, from the mythological epics “Ramayana” and “Mahabharat” to other shows like “Chitrahaar”, “Surabhi”, and “Hum Log”.
Doordarshan took it to X and wrote, “On the occasion of completion of 65 years of Doordarshan, here is a special presentation, which has been made even more special by the unique voice of Rahul Bhuchar”
