Varun Kohli has joined the Times Network as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the News Broadcasting Business. He will report to the Managing Director’s Office while working closely with N Subramanian , Executive Director and Group CEO, Non-Publishing Business, Times Group.
Before joining Times Network, he was serving as CEO at Bharat Express. Prior to that he was associated with Sporty Media Solutionz as CEO from April 2022 to January 2023.
Between March 2017 and March 2022, Kohli served as Group CEO at iTV Network – India News and Newx X. Before that he was the CEO of iTV Network India News from September 2015 and March 2017 and between February 2014 and September 2015, he worked as COO and Revenue Head with the Network.
In the past, he was also associated with TV18 Broadcast, DNA Newspaper, Mogae Media, Mail Today Newspapers, Benett Colman and Company, Deccan Chronicle Holdings, Amar Ujala Publications and Hindustan Times.
As per Times Network, a seasoned media professional with around three decades of leadership experience, Kohli has had a distinguished and a long media career. He brings in rich experience in P&L and Operations Management of Broadcasting Business to Times Network. Having launched several successful media brands and turning several others into profitable ventures, he is popularly known as the “Turnaround Man”.
Apart from media, he has also straddled through sports management in leadership role. He was instrumental in launching and organising several successful seasons of Pro Wrestling League and Big Bout Boxing League for his previous employer, iTV Network. Kohli has a solution-based approach and diverse background across legacy brands, challenger brands and start-ups, it stated.
He also has been credited for transforming several companies by designing a strategic roadmap and detailed benchmarking.
